3D printing
3D printing
Send Eric a file, or tell him what you need and he designs it. Printed in PLA or PETG, with up to 8 colours in one print. Pick it up in Fort McMurray, or have it shipped anywhere in Canada.
What Eric prints
- PC parts: graphics card supports, fan ducts, cable combs, SSD and drive mounts, case feet, custom badges, replacement case clips
- Desk stuff: controller and headset stands, brackets, mounts, cases and holders
- Everyday custom and replacement parts: a broken knob, a clip, a cover that's no longer sold
- Gifts, figures and models
- Prototypes and one-offs
Materials
- PLA: the everyday choice. Stiff, sharp details, lots of colours. Not for hot spots.
- PETG: tougher, and it takes heat better. Good for brackets and parts inside a PC case.
- Multi-colour: up to 8 colours in one print, for text, logos and two-tone parts.
Eric prints on an Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo: an enclosed printer with a multi-colour unit. It prints up to 250 × 250 × 250 mm in one piece. Bigger things are printed in parts and put together.
Two ways to order
How the price works
- Machine time: $5 an hour of printing for 1 to 3 colours. That covers the material, the electricity and the wear on the printer.
- Each colour above 3 adds $1 an hour. More colours means more filament purged at every colour change, and a failed multi-colour print costs more to redo.
- Minimum $20 per print job. Past that, you pay the hours.
- Filament: PLA (included), PETG (included).
- Design work is separate, when Eric makes the model for you: $40 an hour, quoted before he starts. A measuring visit in Fort McMurray counts as design time, 1 hour minimum.
- Every job is quoted before it's printed. Quotes are good for 48 hours.
| Colours in the print | Per hour |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | $5 |
| 4 | $6 |
| 5 | $7 |
| 6 | $8 |
| 7 | $9 |
| 8 | $10 |
For example, in 1 colour ($5 an hour): 2 hours = $20 (the minimum), 4 hours = $20, 5 hours = $25, 6 hours = $30. In 5 colours ($7 an hour): 2 hours = $20 (the minimum), 3 hours = $21, 6 hours = $42. Design work is separate, at $40 an hour.
Getting your print
- Pick-up in Fort McMurray, at a meeting spot you agree on with Eric.
- Or shipping anywhere in Canada, quoted for your city before you pay.
- You pay when it's done: Interac e-Transfer, or cash at pick-up. A shipped print goes out once the payment is deposited.
What you agree to
These points come with every 3D printing quote, and you reply "I agree" before Eric prints.
- You must have the right to print the design: it's your own, or its licence allows it. Eric can say no to a design.
- No weapons or weapon parts, and nothing illegal.
- Printed parts can be off by a few tenths of a millimetre. Tell Eric if a part needs a tight fit. Colours can look a bit different from the screen.
- If a print fails or comes out wrong because of the printer or Eric's setup, he reprints it free.
- If it was printed exactly to your file or the measurements you gave, and it doesn't fit because those were wrong, a new print is a new quote.
- "Design it for me": Eric sends you a picture of the design with the main measurements before printing, and you say OK by email. If his design doesn't match what you approved, he fixes it and reprints free.
- For a part that has to fit something, Eric can print a small test piece of the critical part first. It's cheap, and quoted, so a wrong measurement costs little.
- Design hours are paid even if you decide not to print: you keep the picture and the measurements you approved.
- Custom prints aren't returnable: they're made for you.

How it works
- 1
Ask for a price
Send your file or a link, or describe what you need.
- 2
Price first
You get the price before anything is printed. A design gets a picture to approve.
- 3
Printed
Eric prints it and checks it against the file or the approved design.
